The Epic of the Forgotten is a collection of odes written to honor the heroes who were quickly forgotten following the liberation of Bulgaria.

Both the positive and negative aspects of Bulgarian history are depicted in the odes. Ivan Vazov's portrayal of the pre-Liberation past is similar to ancient Greek tragedy in terms of its tragic intensity and emotional impact. In order to find an honest, modern reading of the poems that honors valiant actions while respectfully facing the inevitable reckoning they require, we set out to remove the false pathos with which they had been recited for decades.

Along the country's journey towards a free Bulgaria, the odes weave together affirmation and negation, exaltation and suffering, bitterness and faith, betrayal and heroism.

Epic of the Forgotten bears the vital mission of awakening collective memory, because it guarantees our historical existence. With the help of the talented actors of the ensemble, we believe we have managed to light yet another small candle in the memory of today’s generation.
